This webinar will provide an overview of the immigration sponsorship process for foreign national employees, while highlighting current practices, legal updates, and strategies and tips for facilitating this process. Using the example of onboarding a foreign national student, attendees will leave with an understanding of strategies on how to retain foreign national talent through not only visa sponsorship, but also petitioning for lawful permanent residency. Cynthia has practiced immigration law since 2015, and in that time, has practiced all areas of immigration law before agencies such as USCIS, the Department of Labor, the Executive Office of Immigration Review, and appellate work to the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal. Cynthia now focuses her practice on employment, family, and humanitarian immigration claims. Her professional interests include nonimmigrant visas such as H-1B, O-1, TN, E-2 and other visa categories, lawful permanent residency for both family and employment-based applicants, and waivers of inadmissibility. She has years of experience working with the undocumented community in pursuit of an immigration status and particularly enjoys navigating the legal complexities of these cases. Cynthia is a member of the Ohio bar, is admitted to practice before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and currently serves as the USCIS Columbus Liaison for AILA Ohio. She is a frequent speaker on immigration, having most recently presented at the 2024 Annual American Immigration Lawyers Association Conference. Cynthia is fluent in Spanish.
