As 2023 begins, please join Amy Flowers and Sara Sams, associates in the Workplace Solutions Group at Ice Miller, as they discuss best practices for employee handbooks.

Participants will learn about best practices and appropriate Employee Handbook updates related to:
(1) COVID-19 Vaccination Policies
(2) Marijuana Policies
(3) Grooming/Workplace Attire
(4) Remote-Work Rules
(5) Wage and Hour Changes


Amy Flowers is an attorney in Ice Miller’s Workplace Solutions Group. Employers rely on Amy to provide advice that helps them avoid workers compensation and employment challenges and defend them in related litigation matters. Prior to joining Ice Miller, Amy served as a bailiff to Judge Kimberly Cocroft of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas for 11 years. After receiving her law degree, Amy drafted decisions and entries for the Judge to review on pending criminal motions, suppression issues, judicial release, post-conviction, jail time credit and other criminal matters before the court in addition to maintaining docket statistics for monthly Supreme Court Reports. Amy also served as a liaison for the Judge and other agencies, court departments, the clerk’s office, litigants, lawyers and other professionals to coordinate court business.

Sara Sams conducts legal research to help clients with employment law matters, including training compliance programs. She also drafts memorandum, pleading and position statements, and other legal documents. Sara earned her juris doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of law, where she served as editor-in-chief of The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution. She also externed for Judge Algenon L. Marbley at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Returned Check Fee
The return of a check (electronic or paper) issued to Human Resources Association of Central Ohio (HRACO) may result in a returned check fee of $30 or 10% of the check amount, whichever is greater.  In those instances where a check is returned for non-sufficient funds, we will contact the individuals who registered for the event to secure the registration or event fee and the returned check fee. The registrant will be prevented from attending any future events in the organization until the payment and resulting fee(s) are resolved. HRACO reserves the right to recover any fees through the guidelines of the Ohio Revised Code, if necessary.
