This program will utilize expert level training, experience, and knowledge to explore the explosion of violence in American culture today. We will support the statements made during this program with data driven analysis taken directly from studies performed by the FBI Behavioral Threat Assessment Center (BTAC) on active shooter/threat violence in the United States. This factual exploration of the root causes of community violence will provide the audience with a clear picture of the problem. It will also provide the most recent trends, motivations, and statistics that are used to discuss how businesses can use this date to better protect their people, property, and assets. The data provided will focus on information important to businesses and HR professionals to include risk factors and methods of dealing with potentially volatile employees.

We will also provide tips on how to survive an active shooter event through our own research, survivor interviews, and case study of the Oregon District shooting in Dayton, OH in August, 2019. Our interview with the survivor is not available anywhere else except through our training programs and speaking engagements.

This program will then provide detailed information from the FBI to include evidence-based methods that help organizations prevent violence. One example is behavioral threat assessments and why it is currently the best available method of preventing violence. The program will discuss the history of behavioral threat assessments, the success it is having in the United States, and how to establish a threat assessment team within a business structure.

Learning Objectives:
1) The Current Threat to Businesses – statistics, trends & motivations of persons who carry out targeted violence
2) Evidence-based violence prevention tools available to businesses
3) Understanding the risks associated with adverse personnel actions of employees
4) The importance of risk driven decisions, to include integration of security functions during periods of high risk
5) The importance of diversity and inclusion in deciphering concerning communications

President and Founder of The Pohl Group, llc and the Project-Survive Foundation, a veteran-owned organization dedicated to making communities safer places. We were founded by former Special Agents from the FBI & DoD to continue our service to community and to share our knowledge, experience, and expertise with partner schools, police departments, and industry professionals. For decades we worked to prevent community violence for the FBI and unfortunately have seen firsthand the devastating impacts of targeted attacks at school shootings, officer involved shootings, the World Trade Center, Shanksville, PA, and Iraq & Afghanistan.

These experiences impacted us greatly and motivated us to establish The Pohl Group as a community-based partner providing evidence-based training programs that help communities prevent, respond & recover from acts of violence.
